History

The building on which Jesus Diaz winery is currently located is part of the Franciscans´ Convent constructed in the XVth century under San Bernardinos´ dedication.
This convent was privatized during Mendizabal´s condemnation.
In 1898 D. Florentino Mingo Garces bought the part of the convent where there was an oil mill, three caves an orchard and warehouses which in the beginning he dedicated to the elaboration of wines and Anisettes since his principal bussines was to sell part of these products he was elaborating in the winery and distillery of Colmenar de Oreja to different bars of Madrid
Passed the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) the winery stayed practically without any activity, until the husband of Felisa Ocaña Mingo, grand-daughter of D. Florentino, Jesus Diaz Garcia in 1949 secedes from his family that was already elaborating wines since three generations behind him and recaptures the elaboration , but now only of wines for supply of bulks both to Madrid and to the markets of consumption of the north of Spain.

Its in 1979 when Jesus Diaz and his son Juan Jose, begin to elaborate wines which destiny will not be the bulk sale, but its sale in individual bottles, for what they restructure the winery and the philosophy of elaboration, now selecting the grapes, collecting them with the suitable maturity, transporting them in fruit boxes, selecting the musts, fermenting with temperature control, etc. Definitely , rationalizing the production to obtain a good wine.

In 1983 an anonymous society named Jesus Diaz and Children S.A was constituted, that supported the activity of elaboration and bottling of wines until 1997, when the above mentioned society is terminated and the Diaz family takes charge of both the elaboration and marketing of the wines, constituting an exclusively family society named Jesus Diaz Winery S.L
